Christpoher O'Conner has joined the gallery

Christopher was born in Dingle in 1974,
a once, remote fishing town off the southwest coast of Ireland.
At 15, he was given a box of oil paints ~ and began painting.
Soon . . . books and paintings were piling up
as he became absorbed in reading about the lives & works
of artists such as Michelangelo, van Gogh, Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso.
At 19, he set out on his travels to see these masterpieces,
as well as those of his contemporaries.
Christopher has lived in both Ireland & America,
and through the years has continued to steadily work & exhibit.
These days, it is in the quiet of his studio,
or wandering through the nearby fields, forests & mountains
that Christopher is most likely to be found.

Joining The Back Lane Gallery artist collective

The collective was started to highlight local Kerry artist.  The gallery is located on New Market lane in Killarney.  This are area is fast becoming the artist quarter of Killarney.  Along with the gallery the Lane is also home to The House of photography,  The PUC Cafe, a Year round craft market (starting at the end of May) and an indoor food market will be open in August.

The gallery is run as an artist collective.  Each artist rents a wall space 9" x 14"  fee of 20.00 euros a week plus 15% commission on any sales.  The fees charged goes into the running cost of the gallery. Another way to join the gallery is to show up to 3 pieces of your work on our rotating artist wall.  The fee is 10.00 Euro per painting per month plus 15% commission.

Killarney is one of the biggest tourist towns in Ireland.  There are very few locations where local artist can show and sell their work.  The gallery was started to fill that void.  Professional artists from Kerry can apply to become a member by sending a bio and 3 images of their work to backlaneart@gmail.com.
